Welcome from the Principal Designate
It is my privilege as Principal Designate of Ayrshire’s new College, to introduce to you our vision for the future of further education
provision in Ayrshire. Ayrshire has three strong colleges, which serve their communities well and offer a wide range of high-quality opportunities for young people to
develop new skills.
As part of our commitment to implementing the Government’s strategy for Post-16 Education, ‘Putting Learners at the Centre’, we are
currently working to create a new regional College for Ayrshire, building on the partnership work already undertaken by the region to support and promote the economic,
social and community development needs of Ayrshire. Individually, Ayr, James Watt and Kilmarnock are colleges to be proud of, together, they will create a 7-star College
which speaks with one voice for the whole of Ayrshire. Ayrshire’s new College will not just be bigger – it will be better. By harnessing the strengths of the three colleges,
it will improve the learner experience by maximising opportunities and raising aspirations. The new College will offer a broad and balanced curriculum, offering hope, inspiration
and opportunity to young people, their families and communities.
Ayrshire’s new College will be dynamic, vibrant, and forward looking. I am delighted that you are considering joining our successful team at this
exciting phase in our development, as we work towards our target vesting date of 1st August 2013. One of the many benefits of the merger is pooling our talent, sharing best practice
from the three colleges to offer our employees greater opportunities for development, and the chance to work as part of a larger, stronger team. Without staff, there is no college,
no learning and teaching, and no future. For this reason we are committed to involving staff every step of the way as the new College comes to life.
Following review of our information pack, if you feel that your knowledge, skills and experience are suited to this role and you are enthusiastic,
with the drive and ambition to join us on our exciting journey, then we would be pleased to receive your application.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this career opportunity with us.
